Narrative:

In msp; ground control is using 'circles' as points of reference. For example; 'taxi down to circle X then do a 180. ' The problem is the 'circles' don't exist on any taxi charts and are reportedly a local system used to manage traffic on a congested ramp area. There are red circles with numbers painted on them; but it does you little good if you're not familiar with them. All ATC 'spots' or call points should be clearly denoted on the charts. Until they're formally published; ATC should refrain from using the 'circle' references.
