Narrative:

On flap retraction we had an indication of a le slat assym (leading edge slat assymetry). Ran appropriate checklist which led us to a return to the departure airport. The checklist called for a partial flap landing. An overweight landing was discussed with company maintenance and crew and was deemed safest course of action. Overweight landing (structural 306;000) was accomplished. Landing was smooth and appropriated write-up made.
