Narrative:

Problem: 1) during the last several weeks the runway has been covered with snow. A local pilot told me that it has not been plowed for almost a week. Notams are not in the system to indicate that field is in a packed/loose/blowing snow condition. 2) jet fuel has not been available for several weeks as well. The AFD indicates jet a is available; but there is a hand made sign on the pump stating 'sorry there is no jet a.' 3) the airport hours are listed in the AFD as 1200-0200Z 00:00 to 22:00 EDT. A paper sign on the airport office list the hours as 10:00 to 16:00 local. Recommendations: 1) FAA/local FSDO send a note to the managers of public airports that they are responsible to post movement area and service notams when the status of the airfield is significantly different from that published in the AFD. 2) FAA/local FSDO encourage airport managers to provide updated field conditions on the awas system. 3) local FSDO spot check airports to see that the airport hours; services and condition match the AFD.
