Narrative:

Aircraft has seating capacity of 36. One passenger as per direction of ramp agent, was directed to hold her 5 yr old child to be counted as a lap child and make seat available to 1 more passenger. F/a gave a count of 35 passenger and 1 child with no mention of lap child. F/a informed station supervisor of overload at planeside when ramp agent come aboard and said he'd 'take care of it.' captain was not informed of situation until gate agent at destination informed me of passenger complain. Passenger was returned childs ticket, which was nonrefundable.

Narrative: ACFT HAS SEATING CAPACITY OF 36. ONE PAX AS PER DIRECTION OF RAMP AGENT, WAS DIRECTED TO HOLD HER 5 YR OLD CHILD TO BE COUNTED AS A LAP CHILD AND MAKE SEAT AVAILABLE TO 1 MORE PAX. CAPT WAS NOT INFORMED OF SITUATION UNTIL GATE AGENT AT DEST INFORMED ME OF PAX COMPLAIN. PAX WAS RETURNED CHILDS TICKET, WHICH WAS NONREFUNDABLE.
