Narrative:

During preflight; I observed the tray table blocker door not in position. I felt around with my hand and the whole door assembly was missing. I have filed a report previously reporting this same issue. Contract maintenance arrived at the aircraft and I explained the problem. The contract mechanic stated that he thought the door had been removed; but he would gladly check the avionics bay and rudder pedals. He returned and said that he found nothing and would talk to maintenance control about a deferral. I had sent an initial message to maintenance control about this problem and received an initial reply. I sent 3 more ACARS messages to ask if there was anything in log history. I never received a reply from maintenance control on these questions. This is a repeat issue and needs to be addressed.
