Narrative:

I was dispatched to ZZZ to change left engine fadec on an erj-190. Upon arrival contacted fleet maintenance control desk. At that time maintenance control desk faxed me all amm references to complete the repair. After the repair was completed; I notified maintenance control. Maintenance control never requested that the aircraft needed category (CAT) certification test or CAT downgrade. Maintenance procedures manual was not sent. Had no knowledge that a CAT certification test was required.fadec replacement not noted as CAT III item in amm. Maintenance procedures reference not available in ZZZ. Maintenance control never faxed the maintenance procedures reference. Aircraft was newly added to CAT III program.manager reviewed maintenance policies for CAT ii / III program. A maintenance alert bulletin was issued; noting the E190 aircraft are 'now CAT-III certified and fadec is included as a CAT critical component.'

Title: A Line Mechanic was informed he had failed to perform a Category (CAT) Certification Test; or have the aircraft's Category status downgraded; after replacing the left engine FADEC on an ERJ-190 during a field trip. Maintenance Control had failed to fax Mechanic the additional maintenance procedures prior to his releasing the aircraft.

A Maintenance Alert Bulletin was issued; Noting the E190 aircraft are 'NOW CAT-III CERTIFIED AND FADEC IS INCLUDED as a CAT CRITICAL COMPONENT.'
