Narrative:
Maintenance contacted me via telephone to apply MEL 28-00-08B for the right main tank fuel quantity (system)indicating low and also apply MEL 28-00-12 for the right wing # 4 magnastick inoperative. I agreed with the lead amt; that these two MEL's did not conflict. I was (also) involved with another aircraft that had done an air turn back; and did not check the open maintenance list for the md-88; and (also) did not realize that the wing heater blankets were currently on the deferred list. There is a 'remark' in the 'remarks/exception' column of MEL 30-00-30 that states; that both cockpit wing fuel quantity indicators must be operative. There is no 'remark' in MEL 28-00-08B however; that would indicate a conflict with MEL 30-00-30. I suggest a 'remark' be added to MEL 28-00-08B in the next revision; to prevent this occurrence.
