Narrative:

We were descending for a landing at nassau international airport runway 32. We were under control of nassau approach and were on an assigned heading of 170 degrees and were cleared to descend to 1500'. At 4500' we saw a single engine aircraft (at approximately 4000' and heading approximately 300 degrees) out ahead of us, crossing left to right. We saw him early enough that we may have been able to take evasive action if necessary. We were close, but evasive action was not required. We reported the situation to nassau approach and they apologized, saying they had not seen the other and didn't know anything about it. We made a visual approach and landed on runway 32.
