Narrative:

During our climbout of aus after passing 10;000 ft and after accelerating to our climb speed we received a TCAS traffic advisory showing traffic at 12:00 and descending into us. Immediately following the traffic advisory we received the resolution advisory 'descend; descend now; descend; descend now'. The flying pilot immediately reduced power and pushed the nose over into a descent. We passed directly under a single engine low wing aircraft. Our altitude was 10;500 ft and the TCAS showed the traffic at +400 ft but I am quite sure we passed closer than that. I notified houston center and they responded 'roger'. When asked if they showed traffic; they responded; 'we do now; at 10;900 ft.'
