Narrative:
I cleared an aircraft for takeoff. Right after the aircraft had started its takeoff roll; I noticed vehicles on the runway and canceled takeoff clearance. The aircraft departed anyway. Once airborne the aircraft mentioned the vehicle and said he thought I had tried to amend his departure clearance.

Narrative: I cleared an aircraft for takeoff. Right after the aircraft had started its takeoff roll; I noticed vehicles on the runway and canceled takeoff clearance. The aircraft departed anyway.
