Narrative:

Departed from dallas love on runway 31R. Clearance was to fly runway heading and to climb to 5000 ft. During the climb after takeoff both comms started giving off a loud static noise in the headsets. With this noise we could not hear departure instructions but could communicate to departure. We told them of our situation; changed the transponder to 7600 and maintained the climb to 5000 ft. Static noise slowly started to decrease and we briefly could hear departure for a request to climb to 8000 ft. Once at 8000 ft the noise completely went away and communications was again established with fteparture. Told the controllers the issue was resolved for now and was told to continue with the departure with the correct squawk code. The loud static noise did not appear again during the trip. After landing at our destination contacted our avionics shop to investigate the problem. Moisture from an earlier downpour could possibly have caused the problem.

Title: CE560 Captain reported loud static after departing DAL and the inability to hear ATC. Problem slowly corrected itself and disappears entirely at 8000 FT. Moisture from an earlier down pour was suspected as the culprit.
