Narrative:
Years have past at jan with a problematic air condition unit. Management has been informed about the air condition problems with information request. The jackson municipal airport authority (jmaa) has failed; in my opinion; to honor their contract with the FAA by not providing a safe and productive work environment. The air condition outage required the tower to be closed once temperatures rose above 90 degrees inside the tower cab. The air condition problems will continue to cause tower closures; as heat and humidity cannot be controlled by small floor units. Help is needed to force the jmaa and FAA to provide a safe and productive work environment. The air condition problem creates a stressful and unsafe work environment. Air traffic operations become more complex and decisions are harder to make as the conditions are so hot and equipment starts indicating errors. The radar display in the tower showed an error that may have been due to heat.
