Narrative:

On completion of tractor pushback (from gate) and engine start, I was informed of a passenger misboard (on wrong flight, destination lga). Knowing the lga bound aircraft was on my immediate left with no beacon on (meaning no ready to go), I called the ground man over and in haste told him to lower the rear stairs and to guide the passenger to his proper flight. As this is against company policy and I have had enough experience to know better, I have to question my reasoning process for making a stupid decision. The most important reason I believe, in short, is pace or speed of the operation. Arrived at one gate and departed a different gate with a different aircraft (total time span 23 mins [including the delay my decision caused). The timing of my notification of the problem occurred at the instant I was ready to sign off with the ground man (5 more seconds and it would not have been easily done and I would not have done it). Having been in the aircraft so many yrs, I was still semi-programmed to think in that fashion because at one time in the past it was not against policy and regulations. Personal summation: if the overall speed of our operation is increased and an occasional decision is made quickly due to haste it will probably be made as much on past experience and our own personal attitude of getting the job done, as on cold logic and the book.

Title: IMPROPERLY BOARDED PASSENGER DEPLANED THROUGH UNAUTH AFT INTEGRAL STAIRS ONTO RAMP WITH ENGINES RUNNING.

Narrative: ON COMPLETION OF TRACTOR PUSHBACK (FROM GATE) AND ENG START, I WAS INFORMED OF A PAX MISBOARD (ON WRONG FLT, DEST LGA). KNOWING THE LGA BOUND ACFT WAS ON MY IMMEDIATE LEFT WITH NO BEACON ON (MEANING NO READY TO GO), I CALLED THE GND MAN OVER AND IN HASTE TOLD HIM TO LOWER THE REAR STAIRS AND TO GUIDE THE PAX TO HIS PROPER FLT. AS THIS IS AGAINST COMPANY POLICY AND I HAVE HAD ENOUGH EXPERIENCE TO KNOW BETTER, I HAVE TO QUESTION MY REASONING PROCESS FOR MAKING A STUPID DECISION. THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON I BELIEVE, IN SHORT, IS PACE OR SPD OF THE OPERATION. ARRIVED AT ONE GATE AND DEPARTED A DIFFERENT GATE WITH A DIFFERENT ACFT (TOTAL TIME SPAN 23 MINS [INCLUDING THE DELAY MY DECISION CAUSED). THE TIMING OF MY NOTIFICATION OF THE PROB OCCURRED AT THE INSTANT I WAS READY TO SIGN OFF WITH THE GND MAN (5 MORE SECS AND IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN EASILY DONE AND I WOULD NOT HAVE DONE IT). HAVING BEEN IN THE ACFT SO MANY YRS, I WAS STILL SEMI-PROGRAMMED TO THINK IN THAT FASHION BECAUSE AT ONE TIME IN THE PAST IT WAS NOT AGAINST POLICY AND REGS. PERSONAL SUMMATION: IF THE OVERALL SPD OF OUR OPERATION IS INCREASED AND AN OCCASIONAL DECISION IS MADE QUICKLY DUE TO HASTE IT WILL PROBABLY BE MADE AS MUCH ON PAST EXPERIENCE AND OUR OWN PERSONAL ATTITUDE OF GETTING THE JOB DONE, AS ON COLD LOGIC AND THE BOOK.
