Narrative:

On this date I was flying on an IFR flight plan. I had been flying at 5000 ft and about 40 miles south of cll; I encountered some very rough air. A front had just passed through and the trailing edge was extremely rough. I asked houston if I could have lower as I was in the clouds and we were being beat up pretty bad. He gave me 4000 ft. This put me right at bases of the clouds and was still pretty rough. He came back and asked me if that was better. I told him that was better because I was so close to getting to easterwood that I wasn't going to complain. Approach had other traffic in the area and he vectored me to intercept the localizer for runway 34. I intercepted the localizer and in doing so; I was being pushed up and down. Approach pointed out a king air that we would be following. We picked him up right away and followed him to runway 34. Upon my arrival; I was notified by the FBO that I was to call houston center. I called and talked to a very courteous gentleman; and he advised that my altitude was indicated to be off. I was never more 150 ft to 200 ft off on altitude but it was impossible to hold a constant at times. When he pointed out the king air I never lost sight of him up to landing. Although approach was handling IFR approaches the field was good VFR.
