Narrative:

The flight plan included a waypoint called kyzyl. The coordinates given on the flight plan and on the enroute chart match (N4015.0 E7206.0). The database in the INS; however; gives the coordinates N5135.4 E9412.4 which matches a russian city; VOR; and airport named kyzyl. The coordinates for the INS waypoint kyzyl needs to be corrected immediately. The kyzyl VOR/airport should be named kzl -- not kyzyl in the INS database. We identified this problem during preflight loading of the INS. Therefore; it did not cause a navigation error in our case. But the possibility remains for other crews to have a serious navigation error. This situation was identified to my employer in a crew report the day following the discovery. Because I am not aware of any corrective action taken by my employer; I now feel it necessary to also make a report to ASRS.
