Narrative:

Soon after canceling my IFR flight plan with center I was descending visually when I heard a thud and the sound of something slapping the nose area of the king air 300. Upon landing and inspecting the plane I discovered the left side avionics door had come off. Damage to the plane consisted of a slight dent aft of the avionics bay access area as well as several major deformations to the inboard left engine cowling. In addition there was scrape evidence on the left side of the rudder. In spite of the door separating in flight; the airplane was fully controllable and I made a normal landing.
