Narrative:
Flight crew scheduling continues to build unsafe and unrealistic schedules. The other day I called in sick for my scheduled departure because I was unfit to fly. Schedulers built two trips back to back; the first ending in a red eye arrival at 5:00am and the next morning starting with a 5:00am report. I slept 8 hours and at 6:00pm when I woke up (2 hours before I needed to go back to sleep) I called in sick. Which was the safest course of action seeing that I was awake all night from sleeping all day.
