Narrative:

Discrepancies noted regarding fai airport (pafa/fai) approach charts published in cycle 0905 with regard to runway construction this coming summer: in general; none of the charts with regard to the temporary runway 1L/19R or runway 2:/20R have any pronounced cautionary advisories regarding the construction and potential confusion. Hi-ILS runway 19R. 1) approach name indicates the approach is to runway 19R; which might be confusing reference the 'temporary runway 19R phraseology air traffic has been instructed to use during construction. 2) as far as air traffic personnel have been told at this point (apr/xa/09) no ILS will be available this summer; so this approach is unusable; but that has not been noted anywhere on the chart. 3) plan view and airport diagram not updated to reflect actual airport layout with temporary runway. ILS or localizer runway 19R: 1) approach name indicates the approach is to runway 19R; which might be confusing reference the 'temporary runway 19R' phraseology air traffic has been instructed to use during construction. 2) as far as air traffic personnel have been told at this point (apr/xa/09) no ILS will be available this summer; so this approach is unusable; but that has not been noted anywhere on the chart. 3) arrow in airport diagram view points the approach toward runway 20R; which will be correct; but only upon completion of the rwy construction. ILS runway 1L: 1) approach name indicates the approach is to runway 1L; which might be confusing reference the 'temporary runway 1L' phraseology air traffic has been instructed to use during construction. 2) as far as air traffic personnel have been told at this point (apr/xa/09); no ILS will be available this summer; so this approach is unusable; but that has not been noted anywhere on the chart. 3) arrow in airport diagram view points the approach toward runway 2L; which will be correct; but only upon completion of the runway construction. ILS runway 1L (category III): 1) approach name indicates the approach is to runway 1L; which might be confusing reference the 'temporary runway 1L' phraseology air traffic has been instructed to use during construction. 2) as far as air traffic personnel have been told at this point (apr/xa/09); no ILS will be available this summer; so this approach is unusable; but that has not been noted anywhere on the chart. RNAV (GPS) runway 2R: 1) no problems noted. RNAV (GPS) runway 20L: 1) no problems noted. RNAV (GPS) X runway 1L: 1) discrepancies between approach name; information in the plan view; and information in the airport diagram. Approach is named for runway 1L; which is reinforced in the plan view by a note indicating 'alruf 1.7 NM to runway 1L' -- but the airport diagram shows an arrow pointing to runway 2L. 2) this brings into question whether the fixes and approach course line up with the temporary landing surface (taxiway a); or the construction surface (what will be runway 2L). RNAV (GPS) X runway 19R: 1) discrepancies between approach name; information in the plan view; and information in the airport diagram. Approach is named for runway 19R; which is reinforced in the plan view by a note indicating 'hanle 2.5 NM to runway 19R' and the airport diagram shows an arrow pointing to the temporary landing surface. However; the note attached to the arrow in the airport diagram indicates a direction to runway 20R.

Title: FAI Controller questions ILS approach charts that will be unusable during the summer reconstruction of Runway 19R/1L. The approach depiction for both RNAV X approaches appear confusing to the Reporter on government charts.
