Narrative:
(Departure phase). ATC was giving us departure vectors and determined we were on course for head-on conflict. ATC told 'columbia' to climb but he used our tail number; so I assumed he was telling me to climb. I climbed to 6;000 ft MSL; ATC called back and told me to return to 5;500 ft MSL.
