Narrative:

I asked for a wind check from ict tower and received the winds were 160 degrees at 6 KTS. This is equivalent to a crosswind of 3 KTS. I had an approach speed of 68 KTS for runway 19L. Upon flaring to land; I ballooned. When I started to bring the throttle to full power to execute a go-around; I touched down and proceeded to pull the throttle back to idle. There was some left rudder input in and upon touching down; the aircraft pulled to the left. I attempted to bring the airplane to a stop but was unable to before the airplane left the runway and impeded on the grass bordering the runway. No damage was done to the aircraft or runway lights. No injuries occurred. I brought the aircraft back on the runway; exited the active via taxiway and radioed the tower upon clearing the runway and requested taxi instructions to cross the active and return to parking. I learned from this that it is important to not hesitate when attempting to execute a go-around decision.
