Narrative:

Soon after leveloff at FL330; we had a strong sulfur odor in the cockpit. Asked flight attendant of odor and after a short time they too complained of a bad smell. At this time we were 120 miles south of ZZZ; so we diverted to ZZZ to land as soon as possible. Emergency declared. Right window heat control unit fried. New unit installed by maintenance burned. Please advise crews of a burned circuit board may have a strong smell of sulfur. This smell of sulfur delayed our decision to divert because it did not smell of burning plastic or ozone smell of a normal overheated or burning electrical components.
