Narrative:

After atlantic crossing, given moncton center to contact at ydp. Due to poor radio reception, able to get moncton after 5 mins past ydp. Controller apologized for his radio problems and read clearance: ydp, ykl, baddy, handa, mt, fpr. We read clearance back twice to confirm routing since reception was weak. Moncton confirmed readback was correct. At ykl, position report was made (altitude, time, estimate to baddy, and handa next). Moncton acknowledged report and gave frequency for montreal to contact them in 3 mins. Montreal contacted and given estimate to baddy and altitude. Montreal acknowledged. Over baddy captain made position report to montreal. Shortly thereafter, montreal asked for identify and we complied. Center said, 'I show you 55 mi off course.' captain replied, 'I show us on course.' center then said, 'oh, you are over baddy instead of banne.' up to this point neither captain nor first officer had seen banne on the map. We found banne approximately 55 mi east of baddy. Center cleared us direct chibougaman (mt) and nothing more was said. Follow up: after clearance received prior to xdp, first officer entered coordinates per captain readout. Captain visually and orally confirmed coordinates after baddy and handa entered by first officer. First officer then rechked coordinates once again to make sure no mistake was made. At ykl captain and first officer both confirmed baddy coordinates, course, etc, as per company policy. When center reported off course all 3 INS coordinates for present position checked and were very close. Subsequent plot of present position showed us right on course.

Title: ROUTE INCLUDED CLRNC TO BANNE INTERSECTION. CREW COPIED AND FLEW TO BADDY INTERSECTION.

Narrative: AFTER ATLANTIC XING, GIVEN MONCTON CENTER TO CONTACT AT YDP. DUE TO POOR RADIO RECEPTION, ABLE TO GET MONCTON AFTER 5 MINS PAST YDP. CTLR APOLOGIZED FOR HIS RADIO PROBS AND READ CLRNC: YDP, YKL, BADDY, HANDA, MT, FPR. WE READ CLRNC BACK TWICE TO CONFIRM ROUTING SINCE RECEPTION WAS WEAK. MONCTON CONFIRMED READBACK WAS CORRECT. AT YKL, POS RPT WAS MADE (ALT, TIME, ESTIMATE TO BADDY, AND HANDA NEXT). MONCTON ACKNOWLEDGED RPT AND GAVE FREQ FOR MONTREAL TO CONTACT THEM IN 3 MINS. MONTREAL CONTACTED AND GIVEN ESTIMATE TO BADDY AND ALT. MONTREAL ACKNOWLEDGED. OVER BADDY CAPT MADE POS RPT TO MONTREAL. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, MONTREAL ASKED FOR IDENT AND WE COMPLIED. CENTER SAID, 'I SHOW YOU 55 MI OFF COURSE.' CAPT REPLIED, 'I SHOW US ON COURSE.' CENTER THEN SAID, 'OH, YOU ARE OVER BADDY INSTEAD OF BANNE.' UP TO THIS POINT NEITHER CAPT NOR F/O HAD SEEN BANNE ON THE MAP. WE FOUND BANNE APPROX 55 MI E OF BADDY. CENTER CLRED US DIRECT CHIBOUGAMAN (MT) AND NOTHING MORE WAS SAID. FOLLOW UP: AFTER CLRNC RECEIVED PRIOR TO XDP, F/O ENTERED COORDINATES PER CAPT READOUT. CAPT VISUALLY AND ORALLY CONFIRMED COORDINATES AFTER BADDY AND HANDA ENTERED BY F/O. F/O THEN RECHKED COORDINATES ONCE AGAIN TO MAKE SURE NO MISTAKE WAS MADE. AT YKL CAPT AND F/O BOTH CONFIRMED BADDY COORDINATES, COURSE, ETC, AS PER COMPANY POLICY. WHEN CENTER RPTED OFF COURSE ALL 3 INS COORDINATES FOR PRESENT POS CHKED AND WERE VERY CLOSE. SUBSEQUENT PLOT OF PRESENT POS SHOWED US RIGHT ON COURSE.
