Narrative:

Departed ZZZ. Upon retraction of gear; received a 'gear disagreement' aural and EICAS warning message. Along with a 'nosewheel steering' EICAS message. EICAS was indicating that the main wheels were retracted and the nosewheel would not retract. Complied with QRH; declared an emergency; and returned to land in ZZZ. Landed under maximum landing weight. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the aircraft involved was a CRJ200.
