Narrative:
Using current approach plates titled 'shfty one RNAV' both pilots confirmed flight planned route with STAR followed closely. NOTAM was issued; but in a late departure and routine task loading failed to notice the change of the STAR. This is the first STAR NOTAM I can remember in all my 21000+ hours; and I believe it is a breach of safety to issue a long term NOTAM instead of a new approach plate. ATC said that the wrong path is often following; though it is still depicted on the approach plate. New revision is not due until aug/09.
