Narrative:

On takeoff we had a temporary EICAS message regarding tat probe and pitot probe. The message went away after rotation so I did not inform the captain right away. After I called positive rate; the captain called for 'gear up.' I was unable to retract the gear. The handle would only go to the 'off' position. After notifying ATC and getting a boxed pattern to work out our 'problem' we referenced the quick reference handbook. The message displayed on the EICAS screen was 'gear disagreement.' we completed the procedures for said problem and returned to a safe landing at ZZZ. We did not declare an emergency when landing at ZZZ because the gear was down and locked with 3 green indications. We also did not inform dispatch before our return to ZZZ. The ACARS still thought we were on the ground in ZZZ and I didn't feel working on the ACARS was a prudent thing to do with our current problem. Crash fire rescue did roll to our situation at our request. We worked the situation in a calm manner and at the safest possible level. We could have chosen to use the 'landing gear lever lock override switch;' but the quick reference handbook did not state to do this in the 'gear disagreement checklist.' again; we chose to work this situation in the safest manner possible complying with the quick reference handbook.

Title: B757-200 flight crew reports inability to retract landing gear after takeoff. Landing gear handle will not move past the off position. A safe return to field ensues.

Narrative: On takeoff we had a temporary EICAS message regarding TAT probe and pitot probe.
