Narrative:

My flight was cleared to use the cottonwood SID for departure from ege. The procedure was reviewed; compared to FMS database; and briefed prior to engine start. Upon climbout; center advised that we were flying the engine-out route and issued a clearance to an enroute fix. There was no conflict; but this routing can affect the arrival airspace for ase. An aircraft that departed immediately prior to my flight also followed the same track. The main factors in these errors are the FMS database only shows one routing and these are the same fixes that are displayed in the textual 'special departure procedures' that are issued to the crew. Better display of the SID information would greatly reduce the error rate on this procedure. On a positive note; this error is on the conservative side considering it is the engine-out climb route through the valley; and as always the egpws was extremely helpful with situational awareness.
