Narrative:

En route from mco to pit between ekn and mgw we were given a descent to FL280 and an airspeed reduction to 300 KIAS. We were then given a heading of 040 degrees for the descent and told to expect to cross 30 southeast of mgw at FL240. As we came out of 28500' we were cleared direct mgw with the restriction, but we were only 36 mi from mgw and we reported unable to make the crossing. ATC acknowledged and we xed at FL260. I feel there was not enough time and too much of a workload on the controller to get the clearance to us in enough time to start our descent.
