Narrative:
Part was defective from overhaul vendor. During installation of new slide; had difficulty arming slide. Tried to adjust girt bar numerous times; still had problem with slide arming. We reinstalled old slide and there was no problem arming it. Cause: equipment malfunction/mechanical.

Title: MECHANIC REPORTS ABOUT THE DIFFICULTY ARMING AN OVERHAULED VENDOR CABIN DOOR SLIDE THEY INSTALLED ON A B757-200. SLIDE WAS DEFECTIVE FROM VENDOR. OLD SLIDE WAS REINSTALLED AND NO PROBLEMS OCCURRED WITH ARMING PROCEDURES.
