Narrative:

While replacing aft pit threshold plate; was removing old tape and sealant with a scotchbrite disc and a damp rag of acetone. When putting grinder down; noticed a portion of rag on fire. Grabbed rag out of aircraft and threw to ground on top of floor grate and put out fire with a rag soaked with water. As soon as fire was out (approximately 15 seconds); heard sirens and the deluge system let go. Due to the events; 2 aircraft received water damage. Be more aware of my surroundings while grinding. System should give a person the opportunity to turn off deluge system in such an event the fire was already extinguished.
