Narrative:

We were cleared for takeoff on runway 33R with the light twin disabled; but clear of the runway on taxiway M facing north. The twin was holding short of quebec on taxiway M when the tower cleared our aircraft for takeoff. We queried the tower about the light twin's location to make sure that it was indeed clear of the runway; and the tower confirmed that it was and cleared us for takeoff again. We felt that the twin was clear of the runway and we continued with the takeoff. The reason for this submission is that there is some question about the taxiway markings on taxiway M. The tower said that the light twin was clear; and it was physically clear; but it would have had to be on taxiway quebec to be past the hold short line.

Title: CL-60 DEPARTURE FROM BWI QUESTIONED RUNWAY CLEARANCE CRITERIA OF A DISABLED AIRCRAFT ON AN ADJACENT TAXIWAY WITH REGARD TO HOLD LINES.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 33R WITH THE LIGHT TWIN DISABLED; BUT CLR OF THE RWY ON TXWY M FACING N. THE TWIN WAS HOLDING SHORT OF QUEBEC ON TXWY M WHEN THE TWR CLRED OUR ACFT FOR TKOF. WE QUERIED THE TWR ABOUT THE LIGHT TWIN'S LOCATION TO MAKE SURE THAT IT WAS INDEED CLR OF THE RWY; AND THE TWR CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS AND CLRED US FOR TKOF AGAIN. WE FELT THAT THE TWIN WAS CLR OF THE RWY AND WE CONTINUED WITH THE TKOF. THE REASON FOR THIS SUBMISSION IS THAT THERE IS SOME QUESTION ABOUT THE TXWY MARKINGS ON TXWY M. THE TWR SAID THAT THE LIGHT TWIN WAS CLR; AND IT WAS PHYSICALLY CLR; BUT IT WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE ON TXWY QUEBEC TO BE PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE.
