Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff; climbing through 7000 ft; noticed smoke coming from center glare shield panel (FCU). Oxygen masks donned by both pilots; declared emergency and returned to ZZZ. I continued to fly; performed immediate action items while captain ran QRH checklist. Smoke stopped; checklists completed; landed overweight without incident. Emergency crew followed aircraft to gate. Maintenance and company operations contacted. Suspect malfunction of wiring within the FCU.
