Narrative:

Ptu control' light inoperative on taxi checks. Aircraft stopped on M9 taxiway short of runway with tower instructions. Maintenance control contacted and maintenance procedure performed; which required shutdown of #2 engine. Auxiliary pump #2 and autofeather deselected after engine shutdown. Procedure completed and #2 engine restarted. #2 auxiliary pump and autofeather re-selected and taxi checklist performed. Aircraft was configured for takeoff; takeoff clearance was received. Power was set for takeoff; with torque indicated stable at the bugs and power levers in the detent; but autofeather did not arm; (autofeather select still indicated on engine display) takeoff was rejected at approximately 71 KTS. Tower was informed by the PNF; passenger advised to remain seated. No high speed braking was required. Aircraft exited the runway via a high speed taxiway on the parallel taxiway. Maintenance control was contacted again. Aircraft condition evaled; and the decision was made to taxi to the ramp to clear an active taxiway. Aircraft was taxied onto the ramp with appropriate clrncs received; and informed by maintenance control to return to the gate for maintenance procedure. Ramp control was advised and aircraft returned to the gate for maintenance procedure. Passenger were advised of situation.

Title: A DASH 8-400 AUTOFEATHER DID NOT ARM WHEN TKOF PWR WAS SET. PILOT REJECTED TKOF AT A SLOW SPD.

Narrative: PTU CTL' LIGHT INOP ON TAXI CHKS. ACFT STOPPED ON M9 TXWY SHORT OF RWY WITH TWR INSTRUCTIONS. MAINT CTL CONTACTED AND MAINT PROC PERFORMED; WHICH REQUIRED SHUTDOWN OF #2 ENG. AUX PUMP #2 AND AUTOFEATHER DESELECTED AFTER ENG SHUTDOWN. PROC COMPLETED AND #2 ENG RESTARTED. #2 AUX PUMP AND AUTOFEATHER RE-SELECTED AND TAXI CHKLIST PERFORMED. ACFT WAS CONFIGURED FOR TKOF; TKOF CLRNC WAS RECEIVED. PWR WAS SET FOR TKOF; WITH TORQUE INDICATED STABLE AT THE BUGS AND PWR LEVERS IN THE DETENT; BUT AUTOFEATHER DID NOT ARM; (AUTOFEATHER SELECT STILL INDICATED ON ENG DISPLAY) TKOF WAS REJECTED AT APPROX 71 KTS. TWR WAS INFORMED BY THE PNF; PAX ADVISED TO REMAIN SEATED. NO HIGH SPD BRAKING WAS REQUIRED. ACFT EXITED THE RWY VIA A HIGH SPD TXWY ON THE PARALLEL TXWY. MAINT CTL WAS CONTACTED AGAIN. ACFT CONDITION EVALED; AND THE DECISION WAS MADE TO TAXI TO THE RAMP TO CLR AN ACTIVE TXWY. ACFT WAS TAXIED ONTO THE RAMP WITH APPROPRIATE CLRNCS RECEIVED; AND INFORMED BY MAINT CTL TO RETURN TO THE GATE FOR MAINT PROC. RAMP CTL WAS ADVISED AND ACFT RETURNED TO THE GATE FOR MAINT PROC. PAX WERE ADVISED OF SITUATION.
