Narrative:
I departed hyi at approximately XA30 for a flight to ZZZ approximately 100 NM. I conducted a personal briefing using the wsi system at hyi. In addition I made 5 phone calls that day to licensed pilots located at ZZZ in order to get a real time WX condition report and prognosis. I checked the tfr's online for the area; there were none applicable for my area. I flew straight course to ZZZ1 to check for possible damage to my hangar at that airport and then to ZZZ where I overflew the runway to check the runway condition; and landed. After landing I was advised by some pilots that another pilot had just called to get a WX and condition report and stated that there was a tfr in effect for our area. I called flight service to find out the hours of effectivity hours of the possible tfr; and the briefer told me that the tfr in question was not listed under texas; but that it was listed under us houston center section. Had the tfr been listed under texas tfr's; I would have seen and complied with it; but who would have thought to look under us section to conduct a 100 NM flight over farm land unaffected by the storm.

Narrative: I DEPARTED HYI AT APPROX XA30 FOR A FLT TO ZZZ APPROX 100 NM. I CONDUCTED A PERSONAL BRIEFING USING THE WSI SYSTEM AT HYI. IN ADDITION I MADE 5 PHONE CALLS THAT DAY TO LICENSED PLTS LOCATED AT ZZZ IN ORDER TO GET A REAL TIME WX CONDITION REPORT AND PROGNOSIS. I CHKED THE TFR'S ONLINE FOR THE AREA; THERE WERE NONE APPLICABLE FOR MY AREA. I FLEW STRAIGHT COURSE TO ZZZ1 TO CHK FOR POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO MY HANGAR AT THAT ARPT AND THEN TO ZZZ WHERE I OVERFLEW THE RWY TO CHK THE RWY CONDITION; AND LANDED. AFTER LNDG I WAS ADVISED BY SOME PLTS THAT ANOTHER PLT HAD JUST CALLED TO GET A WX AND CONDITION REPORT AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A TFR IN EFFECT FOR OUR AREA. I CALLED FLT SVC TO FIND OUT THE HOURS OF EFFECTIVITY HOURS OF THE POSSIBLE TFR; AND THE BRIEFER TOLD ME THAT THE TFR IN QUESTION WAS NOT LISTED UNDER TEXAS; BUT THAT IT WAS LISTED UNDER US HOUSTON CENTER SECTION. HAD THE TFR BEEN LISTED UNDER TEXAS TFR'S; I WOULD HAVE SEEN AND COMPLIED WITH IT; BUT WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TO LOOK UNDER US SECTION TO CONDUCT A 100 NM FLT OVER FARM LAND UNAFFECTED BY THE STORM.
