Narrative:

Taxi out to runway xxl with clearance to 9000 ft. Approaching the 90 degree turn for runway xxl we were cleared for takeoff with an rj on 5 mi final. At the same time the raas very loudly said approaching runway xxl (even though the nose was already well over the hold short line) and blocked out a transmission from the tower for us to maintain 4000 ft instead of 9000 ft. The first officer and I looked at each other and thought it was for the aircraft who had just lifted off; but I asked the first officer to query the tower anyway. It in fact was for us to maintain 4000 ft. Departed without further incident. Get rid of the raas. It is not accurate; it is too loud; and a pure distraction. We need moving maps not raas equipment not working right.
