Narrative:

We had a problem with the new RNAV departures out of clt today. Here was our flight plan: HARRAY2.harray vxv direct. The clearance we received from ATC prior to departure: HARRAY2 harray vxv as filed. The way I understood it is that we were supposed to fly to vxv after harray. If the controller would have said: 'HARRAY2 vxv transition' we would have programmed in the fix 'zavier.' 2 center controllers asked us about our route and seemed somewhat concerned; but they never came back with a definite answer. They just said they were going to look into it. Later; I asked clt clearance delivery (who did not know); and then his supervisor who I spoke on the phone with (who did not know) and never got a good answer. It seems like everybody is somewhat confused about how to fly these departures. Could somebody please enlighten us? Thank you.

Narrative: WE HAD A PROB WITH THE NEW RNAV DEPS OUT OF CLT TODAY. HERE WAS OUR FLT PLAN: HARRAY2.HARRAY VXV DIRECT. THE CLRNC WE RECEIVED FROM ATC PRIOR TO DEP: HARRAY2 HARRAY VXV AS FILED. THE WAY I UNDERSTOOD IT IS THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO FLY TO VXV AFTER HARRAY. IF THE CTLR WOULD HAVE SAID: 'HARRAY2 VXV TRANSITION' WE WOULD HAVE PROGRAMMED IN THE FIX 'ZAVIER.' 2 CTR CTLRS ASKED US ABOUT OUR RTE AND SEEMED SOMEWHAT CONCERNED; BUT THEY NEVER CAME BACK WITH A DEFINITE ANSWER. THEY JUST SAID THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK INTO IT. LATER; I ASKED CLT CLRNC DELIVERY (WHO DID NOT KNOW); AND THEN HIS SUPVR WHO I SPOKE ON THE PHONE WITH (WHO DID NOT KNOW) AND NEVER GOT A GOOD ANSWER.
