Narrative:

Walkarounds are subjective at best. What myself or another amt may find is completely different. I look at these airplanes day in and day out and unless something like this does not just jump out at me; I could miss it due to aircraft landing gear being dirty a majority of the time. I; in all sincerity; did not 'pencil whip' this or any other item that is not specific to a general walkaround. The FAA inspector's concern is that I missed a wiring harness with chaffing. He references step 5(a) as the part of the check that is in question. The issue was corrected after being brought to my attention. I do plan on being more cognizant in the future.

Narrative: WALKAROUNDS ARE SUBJECTIVE AT BEST. WHAT MYSELF OR ANOTHER AMT MAY FIND IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I LOOK AT THESE AIRPLANES DAY IN AND DAY OUT AND UNLESS SOMETHING LIKE THIS DOES NOT JUST JUMP OUT AT ME; I COULD MISS IT DUE TO ACFT LNDG GEAR BEING DIRTY A MAJORITY OF THE TIME. I; IN ALL SINCERITY; DID NOT 'PENCIL WHIP' THIS OR ANY OTHER ITEM THAT IS NOT SPECIFIC TO A GENERAL WALKAROUND. THE FAA INSPECTOR'S CONCERN IS THAT I MISSED A WIRING HARNESS WITH CHAFFING. HE REFS STEP 5(A) AS THE PART OF THE CHK THAT IS IN QUESTION. THE ISSUE WAS CORRECTED AFTER BEING BROUGHT TO MY ATTN. I DO PLAN ON BEING MORE COGNIZANT IN THE FUTURE.
