Narrative:
Was called to office for a job on aircraft that had just arrived. Lead handed me a new laptop and said it was updated and re-programmed for aircraft. I swapped out the laptops not noticing that the new laptop was a 00-00 unit; therefore did not enter a maintenance note in logbook.

Title: MECHANIC SWAPPED OUT AN ONBOARD LAPTOP COMPUTER WITHOUT ENTERING A MAINT NOTE IN THE B737-700 LOGBOOK.
Narrative: WAS CALLED TO OFFICE FOR A JOB ON ACFT THAT HAD JUST ARRIVED. LEAD HANDED ME A NEW LAPTOP AND SAID IT WAS UPDATED AND RE-PROGRAMMED FOR ACFT. I SWAPPED OUT THE LAPTOPS NOT NOTICING THAT THE NEW LAPTOP WAS A 00-00 UNIT; THEREFORE DID NOT ENTER A MAINT NOTE IN LOGBOOK.
