Narrative:

Moments after assuming the radar position at sector 31R (hampton) at ZBW; I was alerted by a controller at an adjacent sector to the presence of an aircraft within my airspace that was tagged and tracked; but not displayed on the display at position 31R. The events leading to the lack of the aircraft being displayed on my display are unknown to me; and may or may not have had a basis in the training that had been taking place prior to me taking the sector. Since the aircraft was correctly tracking on the correct code with complete flight data it was only necessary to call up the data block for display. Communication with the aircraft was established after a call to the previous sector and the flight progressed through the sector uneventfully.

Narrative: MOMENTS AFTER ASSUMING THE RADAR POS AT SECTOR 31R (HAMPTON) AT ZBW; I WAS ALERTED BY A CTLR AT AN ADJACENT SECTOR TO THE PRESENCE OF AN ACFT WITHIN MY AIRSPACE THAT WAS TAGGED AND TRACKED; BUT NOT DISPLAYED ON THE DISPLAY AT POS 31R. THE EVENTS LEADING TO THE LACK OF THE ACFT BEING DISPLAYED ON MY DISPLAY ARE UNKNOWN TO ME; AND MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE HAD A BASIS IN THE TRAINING THAT HAD BEEN TAKING PLACE PRIOR TO ME TAKING THE SECTOR. SINCE THE ACFT WAS CORRECTLY TRACKING ON THE CORRECT CODE WITH COMPLETE FLT DATA IT WAS ONLY NECESSARY TO CALL UP THE DATA BLOCK FOR DISPLAY.
