Narrative:

Due to forecast possibility of thunderstorms in the area around our arrival time I elected to add 1296 pounds after conferring with dispatch. Once in contact with center; they had us start our descent prior to the flight plan TOD. When we were turned over to the next center; they started vectoring us for traffic in the ZZZ area. Our original planned arrival fuel according to the flight plan was 15400 pounds. We arrived with 14020 pounds. The result was that had we not added the additional fuel; our arrival fuel would have been 12724 pounds. With thunderstorms in the forecast; the fuel load would have been insufficient if I would have accepted the original fuel load.
