Narrative:

On taxi out; performed flight control check and noticed a resistance in the rudder movement; which was also confirmed by the first officer; contacted maintenance control and returned to the gate. The mechanic cleaned and lubricated the associated cables and this did remove the resistance. The flight was then conducted uneventfully.

Title: B737 FLT CREW REPORTS RESISTANCE IN RUDDER PEDALS DURING FLIGHT CONTROL CHECK AND RETURNS TO GATE.

Narrative: ON TAXI OUT; PERFORMED FLT CTL CHK AND NOTICED A RESISTANCE IN THE RUDDER MOVEMENT; WHICH WAS ALSO CONFIRMED BY THE FO; CONTACTED MAINT CTL AND RETURNED TO THE GATE. THE MECH CLEANED AND LUBRICATED THE ASSOCIATED CABLES AND THIS DID REMOVE THE RESISTANCE. THE FLT WAS THEN CONDUCTED UNEVENTFULLY.
