Narrative:

Declared emergency. Did not get a green nose gear landing light prior to landing. Executed go around and did the emergency checklist. Found the hydraulic pumps in low. Placed the pumps in high and nose gear extended normally. Due to distrs with ATC vectoring and navigation; we failed to turn pumps to high during descent.

Title: AN MD-80 FLT CREW EXECUTED A GO-AROUND FROM THEIR APPROACH WHEN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND PROPERLY. THEY FOUND THE HYD PUMP SWITCHES IN THE WRONG POSITION.

Narrative: DECLARED EMER. DID NOT GET A GREEN NOSE GEAR LNDG LIGHT PRIOR TO LNDG. EXECUTED GAR AND DID THE EMER CHKLIST. FOUND THE HYD PUMPS IN LOW. PLACED THE PUMPS IN HIGH AND NOSE GEAR EXTENDED NORMALLY. DUE TO DISTRS WITH ATC VECTORING AND NAV; WE FAILED TO TURN PUMPS TO HIGH DURING DSCNT.
