Narrative:

During my first officer preflight flows before the flight to albany; the crew desk ACARS'ed a message for me to contact them. They informed me another first officer refused a jet due to a deferred TCAS. They asked me if I was willing to fly the jet. I too was uncomfortable without TCAS as it is vital equipment for air safety. I advised them I too was not comfortable taking the jet. I was then asked 2 more times if/why I will not take it and was told I needed to speak to the chief pilot. At this point; still in the middle of my preflight during an lca check ride; I became very stressed. I felt I was being pilot pushed 10 mins before departure. I did not speak to the chief pilot at that time due to my high frustration level. Instead; the phone call was ended. I stepped away from the jet and gate to calm my frustrations. I then called the chief pilot and advised him I did not appreciate the pilot pushing techniques utilized during these already stressful times. I completed the original trip and line check as scheduled.

Title: B737-300 FO REPORTS ATTEMPTS BY ACR MGMT TO HAVE HIM FLY AN ACFT WITH AN INOPERATIVE TCAS SYSTEM.

Narrative: DURING MY FO PREFLT FLOWS BEFORE THE FLT TO ALBANY; THE CREW DESK ACARS'ED A MESSAGE FOR ME TO CONTACT THEM. THEY INFORMED ME ANOTHER FO REFUSED A JET DUE TO A DEFERRED TCAS. THEY ASKED ME IF I WAS WILLING TO FLY THE JET. I TOO WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WITHOUT TCAS AS IT IS VITAL EQUIP FOR AIR SAFETY. I ADVISED THEM I TOO WAS NOT COMFORTABLE TAKING THE JET. I WAS THEN ASKED 2 MORE TIMES IF/WHY I WILL NOT TAKE IT AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO SPEAK TO THE CHIEF PLT. AT THIS POINT; STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PREFLT DURING AN LCA CHK RIDE; I BECAME VERY STRESSED. I FELT I WAS BEING PLT PUSHED 10 MINS BEFORE DEP. I DID NOT SPEAK TO THE CHIEF PLT AT THAT TIME DUE TO MY HIGH FRUSTRATION LEVEL. INSTEAD; THE PHONE CALL WAS ENDED. I STEPPED AWAY FROM THE JET AND GATE TO CALM MY FRUSTRATIONS. I THEN CALLED THE CHIEF PLT AND ADVISED HIM I DID NOT APPRECIATE THE PLT PUSHING TECHNIQUES UTILIZED DURING THESE ALREADY STRESSFUL TIMES. I COMPLETED THE ORIGINAL TRIP AND LINE CHK AS SCHEDULED.
