Narrative:

On descent into ZZZ at about FL240 the captain's forward window cracked suddenly (although it remained intact). We told ATC about the window; requested direct and lower altitude. ATC gave us priority handling while we completed the window damage checklist. Approach control offered us runway yy for landing; but we requested to continue to the landing runway of xx since at this point we were only 20 mi north of ZZZ descending through 12000 ft. Approach and landing were expeditious and uneventful. We told ground we did not need emergency crews that were waiting for us and taxied to the gate.
