Narrative:

Departed ZZZ with VFR fuel plus some extra for good WX arrival in ZZZ1. Rerouted north to avoid thunderstorm over the XXXX valley. Dispatch issued a ZZZ3 alternate and I concurred. WX became thunder-stormy as we arrived. We had multiple vectors and deviations and holds. We diverted to ZZZ3 and looked forward to landing with about 5500 pounds of fuel. As the flaps were extended to 25 degrees; they locked at 20 degrees; with a flap disagree EICAS message. We did a soft go around and took delay vectors to accomplish the checklist. Due to the high fuel burn with the flaps at 20 degrees; I did not waste time calling maintenance. We sent a quick message to dispatch issued a cabin advisory; and declared minimum fuel; followed by an approach to runway 22L. All went well; and we landed with about 3300 pounds of fuel. The new captain got her money's worth on this first leg of IOE!
