Narrative:

When we purchased our B100 it did not come with a computer based program for tracking time sensitive items; it had a printed list. These beech airplanes have a lot of time sensitive items. We proceeded to put the data in computer format so that the tracking of time sensitive items would be more accurate and could be done more easily. We compiled a list of items using both the airframe service manual and the garrett engine manuals. This made 1 spreadsheet covering the entire airplane; airframe; engines and all related sub-system. The compiled data was then entered into our computer program. All of this was done under my supervision. Since the program we were using had pratt & whitney engine data included and the B100 has garrett engines; we went through our program line by line and deleted the pratt & whitney items and inserted the garrett time sensitive items that were applicable. In doing so; the 5 yr replacement requirement for the engine fluid carrying hoses was replaced with a garrett 400 hour inspection requirement of the same lines. The 400 hour inspection of the engine lines was performed in feb/08. The replacement of the lines per the beech/pratt 5 yr requirement was due to be performed on or before mar/08. The deletion of the 5 yr replacement criteria was clearly an oversight. It has been corrected and all affected lines have been replaced with new. This oversight resulted in 1 of the subject ines rupturing thereby requiring a precautionary engine shutdown; propeller feather; and unscheduled landing. The aircraft was not damaged in any way. We have audited our time sensitive item list to ascertain that we made no other mistakes in compiling and recording this data.

Title: A DIRECTOR OF MAINT FOR A 135 OPERATOR; REPORTS ON THE INADVERTENT DELETION OF THE FIVE YEAR REPLACEMENT REQUIREMENT OF ENG FLUID CARRYING HOSES ON THEIR BEECH KING AIR B100 WITH GARRETT ENGS; NOT PRATT AND WHITNEY.

Narrative: WHEN WE PURCHASED OUR B100 IT DID NOT COME WITH A COMPUTER BASED PROGRAM FOR TRACKING TIME SENSITIVE ITEMS; IT HAD A PRINTED LIST. WE COMPILED A LIST OF ITEMS USING BOTH THE AIRFRAME SVC MANUAL AND THE GARRETT ENG MANUALS. THIS MADE 1 SPREADSHEET COVERING THE ENTIRE AIRPLANE; AIRFRAME; ENGS AND ALL RELATED SUB-SYS. THE COMPILED DATA WAS THEN ENTERED INTO OUR COMPUTER PROGRAM. ALL OF THIS WAS DONE UNDER MY SUPERVISION. SINCE THE PROGRAM WE WERE USING HAD PRATT & WHITNEY ENG DATA INCLUDED AND THE B100 HAS GARRETT ENGS; WE WENT THROUGH OUR PROGRAM LINE BY LINE AND DELETED THE PRATT & WHITNEY ITEMS AND INSERTED THE GARRETT TIME SENSITIVE ITEMS THAT WERE APPLICABLE. IN DOING SO; THE 5 YR REPLACEMENT REQUIREMENT FOR THE ENG FLUID CARRYING HOSES WAS REPLACED WITH A GARRETT 400 HR INSPECTION REQUIREMENT OF THE SAME LINES. THE 400 HR INSPECTION OF THE ENG LINES WAS PERFORMED IN FEB/08. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LINES PER THE BEECH/PRATT 5 YR REQUIREMENT WAS DUE TO BE PERFORMED ON OR BEFORE MAR/08. THE DELETION OF THE 5 YR REPLACEMENT CRITERIA WAS CLRLY AN OVERSIGHT. IT HAS BEEN CORRECTED AND ALL AFFECTED LINES HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW. THIS OVERSIGHT RESULTED IN 1 OF THE SUBJECT INES RUPTURING THEREBY REQUIRING A PRECAUTIONARY ENG SHUTDOWN; PROP FEATHER; AND UNSCHEDULED LNDG. THE ACFT WAS NOT DAMAGED IN ANY WAY. WE HAVE AUDITED OUR TIME SENSITIVE ITEM LIST TO ASCERTAIN THAT WE MADE NO OTHER MISTAKES IN COMPILING AND RECORDING THIS DATA.
