Narrative:

Clarksburg approach cleared us for the VOR DME runway 18 into mgw. We executed this approach; and had to go missed due to lack of seeing the runway. After consulting with company; we decided to try the approach once again. Clarksburg approach again cleared us for the VOR DME runway 18 into mgw. We executed this approach; this time to a successful full-stop landing. Upon taxiing into the gate; morgantown tower informed us that the VOR DME runway 18 approach had been notamed out of service for the past 4 years. (Fdc 4/3275). I then called company and informed them of this new information. We had no such NOTAM in our dispatch packet. Also; both crew members had a current approach plate for the VOR DME runway 18. This event occurred because the crew was following company procedures and had no way of knowing that the VOR DME runway 18 was notamed out of service.

Title: FLT CREW IS CLEARED FOR VOR DME RWY 18 AT MGW AND LANDS ON SECOND ATTEMPT; TO BE INFORMED THAT THE APCH HAS BEEN NOTAMED OUT OF SERVICE FOR FOUR YEARS.

Narrative: CLARKSBURG APCH CLEARED US FOR THE VOR DME RWY 18 INTO MGW. WE EXECUTED THIS APCH; AND HAD TO GO MISSED DUE TO LACK OF SEEING THE RWY. AFTER CONSULTING WITH COMPANY; WE DECIDED TO TRY THE APCH ONCE AGAIN. CLARKSBURG APCH AGAIN CLEARED US FOR THE VOR DME RWY 18 INTO MGW. WE EXECUTED THIS APCH; THIS TIME TO A SUCCESSFUL FULL-STOP LNDG. UPON TAXIING INTO THE GATE; MORGANTOWN TOWER INFORMED US THAT THE VOR DME RWY 18 APCH HAD BEEN NOTAMED OUT OF SERVICE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS. (FDC 4/3275). I THEN CALLED COMPANY AND INFORMED THEM OF THIS NEW INFORMATION. WE HAD NO SUCH NOTAM IN OUR DISPATCH PACKET. ALSO; BOTH CREW MEMBERS HAD A CURRENT APCH PLATE FOR THE VOR DME RWY 18. THIS EVENT OCCURRED BECAUSE THE CREW WAS FOLLOWING COMPANY PROCS AND HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT THE VOR DME RWY 18 WAS NOTAMED OUT OF SVC.
