Narrative:

We took off runway xx. At about 300 ft AGL we received an annunciation on our pfd display that the door is open. I looked back and I saw that the only thing holding the door was the red clip. However; the latch was in the closed position. I called the tower and requested to land because we had an open door. So he cleared us for runway yy. On final I tried to close the door by pushing down on it. But; I guess that caused the clip to disconnect. I thought the door only released upward. When we landed; we realized the door had departed the aircraft.
