Narrative:

On approach to mia runway 8L; tower cleared us to land inside FAF on a visual approach. Windshear advisories had been previously issued to that runway. We had been vectored in on a dogleg and started out high intercepting final. On approach brief; we discussed adding 10 KTS to normal vref speeds to accommodate possible windshear. After selecting flaps to 25 degrees; then 30 degrees; we were still high; so we lowered the nose to get on visual GS (PAPI). Speed increased to approximately 183 KTS and the flap load alleviation system brought the flaps back up to 25 degrees. First officer asked if I wanted to take it around and I said continue because of thunderstorms at upwind end of runway extending out past miami beach; a B767 overhead on a missed approach from runway 9 and a B757 on final on runway 9. Throttles were brought to idle to slow aircraft down but not stable at 500 ft. Aircraft was under control and I thought the best option was to continue. Aircraft landed on centerline and in the touchdown zone. Notified maintenance of possible flap overspd.

Title: B737 CAPT REPORTS UNSTABILIZED APPROACH AND FLAP OVERSPEED DURING APPROACH TO MIA WITH TSTMS IN THE VICINITY.

Narrative: ON APCH TO MIA RWY 8L; TWR CLRED US TO LAND INSIDE FAF ON A VISUAL APCH. WINDSHEAR ADVISORIES HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY ISSUED TO THAT RWY. WE HAD BEEN VECTORED IN ON A DOGLEG AND STARTED OUT HIGH INTERCEPTING FINAL. ON APCH BRIEF; WE DISCUSSED ADDING 10 KTS TO NORMAL VREF SPDS TO ACCOMMODATE POSSIBLE WINDSHEAR. AFTER SELECTING FLAPS TO 25 DEGS; THEN 30 DEGS; WE WERE STILL HIGH; SO WE LOWERED THE NOSE TO GET ON VISUAL GS (PAPI). SPD INCREASED TO APPROX 183 KTS AND THE FLAP LOAD ALLEVIATION SYS BROUGHT THE FLAPS BACK UP TO 25 DEGS. FO ASKED IF I WANTED TO TAKE IT AROUND AND I SAID CONTINUE BECAUSE OF TSTMS AT UPWIND END OF RWY EXTENDING OUT PAST MIAMI BEACH; A B767 OVERHEAD ON A MISSED APCH FROM RWY 9 AND A B757 ON FINAL ON RWY 9. THROTTLES WERE BROUGHT TO IDLE TO SLOW ACFT DOWN BUT NOT STABLE AT 500 FT. ACFT WAS UNDER CTL AND I THOUGHT THE BEST OPTION WAS TO CONTINUE. ACFT LANDED ON CTRLINE AND IN THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE. NOTIFIED MAINT OF POSSIBLE FLAP OVERSPD.
