Narrative:

I was called out to aircraft X for a captain's audio control panel that could not be selected to #1 VHF communication. I went to the line stores and saw 2 audio control panels for the B737's. I saw one of them was for fleet model X and the other was for fleet model Y. Since aircraft is a next generation; I took the box with the fleet model Y. I installed the audio control panel and operations checked it reference maintenance manual. I was later called to the aircraft by the crew asking if the panel I installed was the correct panel. The panel I installed had the servo and flight interphone selectors reversed from the other audio control panels. I checked the supplemental ipc and discovered the correct part for that aircraft is part #xyz or xyx. This is the same part number as the -400 fleet uses. The part number I installed is for -800 aircraft only. I initiated a new log page and installed the correct part.
