Narrative:

During pushback at ZZZZ; the tow bar broke. Since I had just recently had this happen in ZZZ1; I refused to move the aircraft until dispatch and maintenance had been called. I requested a maintenance inspection. There is no maintenance in ZZZZ. I was under the impression that a maintenance inspection was always required before flight; when a tow bar breaks. The station manager called dispatch and they said it was ok to go; and it would be inspected when we arrived in ZZZ1. Nosewheel steering felt fine; and we departed as instructed. Uneventful flight and landing. We contacted maintenance upon arrival in ZZZ1 and were informed that a maintenance inspection is always required when a tow bar breaks on pushback.
